Friend, is your domain safe? Learn about the critical importance of domain security and how to strengthen your #security game.”

Domain security is easy to overlook, but the outcome can be catastrophic.

Phishing attacks are no longer random acts. They are well-prepared and incredibly aggressive, with the only goal of compromising security and your day-to-day activity. This gap exposes the business email to hijacking, ransomware, and much more.

So, what are you doing to close this gap? Are you conducting phishing tests every six months for your users? Are you using the results as a learning opportunity for the users and teaching best practices?

In recent months, customers have asked me, “How do we test my Team’s phishing awareness” or “How do I educate and prevent losing data due to a security breach.” but the most recurring question is, “Someone clicked on a wrong link, can you have a look.”

What are the Different Types of Phishing Attacks?

  • Email Phishing. A standard phishing attack is where the phisher attempts to convince the recipient of an email to act.
  • Spear Phishing. This type of phishing attack is more sophisticated than standard phishing. A spear-phishing attack targets a specific user or group with inside information that an average phishing campaign would not have. This information is gathered from public data sources (news, social media) and non-public (leaked internal documents, insider information).
  • Whaling. This phishing attack is similar to spear phishing; however, the attacker targets are high-value organizational, such as senior executives. Attackers may imitate other high-level employees in the organization to gain access to other forms of non-public information that they can use to improve the success of future attacks.

What Attack Methods do Phishers Use?

  • Malicious URLs
  • Forms
  • Malicious Attachments
  • Account Spoofing
