Noctlicent Project – Your Technology Partner

Have you heard the inbox news? I bet you did; I bet you got an email from your ESP advising you of incoming changes.

Google and Yahoo are dropping the hammer on bulk senders, so it begs the question, are you ready? These are guidelines for email senders, and it’s time we talk about them!

What is the change?

Starting February 1st, 2024, if a bulk-sending organization has an abuse complaint rate of 0.3% or higher, Google and Yahoo will automatically block all messages from that organization. And that’s all folks, just like the end of Looney Tunes cartoons.

What Does It Mean for Email Senders?

Here’s a quick rundown of the fundamental changes and how we can adapt:

  1. Authentication, Authentication, Authentication!

Think of it as your email ID card. You must set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC to prove you’re the real deal. ️

  2. Keep Spam at Bay

Maintain a spam complaint rate below 0.3%. It’s all about quality content and respecting reader preferences.

  3. Make Unsubscribing a Breeze

No hard feelings! Give readers a straightforward way to opt-out.

  4. Follow the Rules of the Road

Ensure valid DNS records and format emails correctly. No impersonating Gmail, either!

Ready to Get Compliant?

Here’s a checklist to get you started:

  • Check your sender score using Postmaster Tools.
  • Implement authentication protocols if needed.
  • Make unsubscribing super simple.
  • Continue sending valuable content that your readers love.

Working together, we can create a safer and more enjoyable email experience for everyone!

If you still have questions or concerns, I will be ready to walk you through them and make them as transparent as possible to avoid unwanted results.
